The Badger Company Rom (TBCRom) is, since 2004, the leading company in the engineering division of the Dutch group Encode Group BV, which offers integrated engineering services and technical consulting for the industrial sector, both for the EU market and yes non-EU . The company specializes in a wide range of design services, from conceptual and feasibility studies to technical and detail projects, consulting services and technical assistance during execution, for the oil and gas industries (onshore and offshore - upstream, midstream and downstream), the chemical and petrochemical sector, metallurgy, energy, recycling, etc. Currently, TBCRom is involved in projects that have an implementation duration that can vary from a few weeks, especially for repair projects,
The company's medium-term prospects are aimed at developing the activity, as a result of the increase in demand for investment projects both in Romania and at EU level, projects that are included in the PNRR program, but also those related to general transit to renewable energy.

- How has the company's activity evolved in 2021 and what are your estimates for 2022 and in the future?
- Starting with 2020 and continuing in 2021, the activity of our company was marked by the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the whole society. We encountered difficulties at the beginning, in finding a balance between the desire to protect first and foremost the health of employees and their families and to complete and in optimal conditions the projects in which we were involved. Despite all these difficulties, we have managed to adapt to new realities and, in the last two years, we have diversified our portfolio of services and clients, we have implemented new engineering and design software and we have reorganized and developed certain disciplines.
For the period 2022-2025 we estimate a development of activity, as a result of the increase in demand for investment projects both in Romania and in the EU, projects that are included in the PNRR program, but also for projects based on new requirements, generated by the need EU countries to speed up the transition to renewable green energy and the need to increase and diversify energy sources, in order to ensure full energy security in the short and medium term.
Furthermore, we want an expansion of the client portfolio and the project portfolio. This can be done by providing quality services, by adaptability and flexibility in approaching new projects, investing in software and hardware and, last but not least, by investing in employees and increasing their capabilities. We are also considering investments in the digitization of administrative activities and project management.

- What investments do you plan to digitize your business?
- The digitization and use of new technologies will have a major impact on the development of all market segments. Our company has an annual program of investments in state-of-the-art software and hardware, as well as in employee development courses, so that we can offer our customers quality services, efficient and in line with the latest technologies and standards.
- What are the problems you encounter in carrying out the activity, at this moment?
- There are currently several factors that have an impact on the company's activity, for example: the new post-Covid reality on the labor market, the fluctuation of raw material and energy prices, as well as other factors, but we hope to overcome these problems, to we adapt to the new requirements and to be able to continue and diversify our activity. The increase in construction prices, but especially their volatility, have affected us, indirectly, by reducing investments in the fields in which we operate, some projects have been put on hold, others have been reorganized, especially resized, but we are optimistic that things will enter a dynamic of growth. We went through the financial crisis of 2008-2009, the oil crisis of 2016,

- How do you approach, in the projects you participate in, the issue of energy efficiency and the transition to renewable sources?
- As we mentioned, the projects enter the reorganization phase in terms of energy efficiency, the trend being given by the decrease of energy consumption, simultaneously with the implementation of new technologies. The pressure came both from the desire to reduce energy costs, but especially from the awareness of companies in the industrial area on the negative impact of their activities on the environment. In our projects, compliance with environmental protection requirements and alignment with BAT technologies for the industrial installations we design is a priority.

- What trends do you notice in architecture and design during this period, considering the current context?
- As we mentioned, the projects enter the reorganization phase in terms of energy efficiency, the trend being given by the decrease of energy consumption, simultaneously with the implementation of new technologies. The pressure came both from the desire to reduce energy costs, but especially from the awareness of companies in the industrial area on the negative impact of their activities on the environment. In our projects, compliance with environmental protection requirements and alignment with BAT technologies for the industrial installations we design is a priority.

- What do you think will be the trends in design, engineering, technical consulting and project management in the coming years?
- We consider that the next years will be marked by an increase and diversification of projects in the fields in which we operate, we have a massive program of investments underway in the European Union and here we discuss PNRR, we see a set of statements of intent, not only EU leaders on medium-term investments in the development of the green energy sector, but also in ensuring energy independence, so we believe that the demands for design, engineering, technical consulting and project management services will have an upward trend in the coming years.
At the same time, the trend of cost pressure on the design hour will be maintained, as well as the pressure to shorten the execution deadlines, including on the engineering / design side. At the same time, we anticipate, in the current context (energy crisis, pollution reduction and environmental protection), many opportunities for the development of new technologies in the field of energy production and recycling, ie many studies of design, feasibility, pilot plant design, etc.
